Baby on BoardOnly July 26th Mom, Dad, and Bennet boarded a flight to CHICAGO! It was B’s first flight (and she was was a champ, making everyone smile at the airport and then sleeping through most of the flight). Now I just need to convince her dad that we can start jet-setting all over the globe...
We had such a wonderful visit, including B’s “Sweet Home Chicago” Party (see separate post here!) and lots of special memories with the Hoyts/Domagalas in Chicago, Oak Lawn, and Michigan.
* * * Trip Highlights * * *
We really took a (literal) walk down memory lane as we strolled from Neil’s childhood home in Oak Lawn to his favorite playground - Rocket Slide Park - with Bennet in her brand new stroller.
Gram and Papa set up a changing station in Neil & Scott’s old room and B was totally taken by the ND Leprechaun. Foreshadowing???
We also spent a few days in Michigan at the Hoyt’s lakehouse. It was so special to take Bennet here, since her parents have so many fond memories in New Buffalo (including our wedding, ND football weekends, and trips out with family and friends all year round). We took B to some of our favorite Michigan restaurants, including Brewster's (where I had my first meal out with the Hoyts). One day we will tell B that she shouldn’t put her feet up on the table.

AND, I don't know if I'll ever be able to take down that Notre Dame wallpaper border now. Bennet is absolutely mesmerized by the Leprechaun.

Bennet, if you only knew how excited we were for your visit to happen! Watching the minutes go by painfully slow on the clock kind of excited. What a special time with all of us, Uncle Scott & Morgan the night before the big Party!
Lindsay, you are amazing at wanting Bennet to experience so many of the places that were important to you and to Neil ~~ Rocket Slide Park, the Lakehouse, Brewster's in New Buffalo, what great memories and history you & Neil have with these places that you now share with Bennet too!

I’m not surprised that she was perfect on the flight because….. well…… she IS perfect!
It was great fun taking her to Rocket Slide park. Neil’s mom and I spent a lot of time there with Neil and it was quite heartwarming to see Neil there with Bennet.
